How do you find a father in jail that you've never met ?

My friend is really depressed and wants to meet her dad or at least tell him that she's alive , because she was supposed to die when she was 2 . She's now 14 and perfectly healthy .

She's never met her dad , she only knows his full name and that he's in a prison for life . /:

I just want to have her be able to write him a letter at least, are there any way to find him ?
 
Depending on the state you live in you should be able to type his name in a judiciary case search. For example if you live in FL go to google.com and type in Florida Judiciary Case Search...Type his name in and it will pop up with his date of birth,what hes in there for and what prison he's at.Then once she finds out the prison she can call there and get the address to write her dad.I hope this helped and if you or your friend need any further help e-mail me and i'll be glad to help you guys.Good Luck!
