How do you find a book if you don't know the title or author?

There was a book I read in my early teens that I simply cannot remember the title or author for. How does one go about finding such a book? Is there a person to contact? A place to go? A book to research it in? A website to ask? Maybe one of you guys out there has read practically every mystery or suspense book in existence and can help me. Maybe someone will start up their own website. But hey... help!

Why don't you describe the plot and post in on answers?

If you can remember some keywords, some public libraries can look it up. What did the main character do for a living? Where was it set, etc.

Not sure how successful it will be, but posting as much info as you can remember (including what the cover looked like) here on Yahoo Answers seems to be the way most people who've forgotten the title/author get help.
