As stated in the question, I requested to drop from Marching Band into regular P.E., but one section that the student must fill out is titled, "Please explain the specific reason for your request: ".
What I should say: My reason for dropping Marching Band is that I feel I should focus on my other schoolwork.
The reality of it all: Marching Band is way too time-consuming. I don't have enough time for the practices, I've begun to sleep at very late times because the weekday rehearsals and sectionals take out hours from my homework time, and my weekends are filled with tutoring and Marching Band. This lack of sleep combined with my endless procrastination will probably cause my grades to drop, and this is certainly not the way I want to start out my Freshman year.
What should I put down?
