How Do YOU Feel When You See An Obese Person Working Out At The Gym?

I am 24 years old and I am morbidly obese according to my BMI. This summer I took a good hard look at my life and decided to change a plethora of things about myself, both emotionally and physically.

But it seems you can't change the people around you, regardless of how hard you work to change yourself.

For those of you who are physically fit and go to a gym, what do you think/feel when you see a very large person on a treadmill or elliptical machine? Is your first instinct to make fun of them or encourage them?

The reason I'm asking is because there is one woman at the gym I recently joined who has been making my life a living hell every time we're there at the same time. She's obnoxious and rude, constantly poking fun at my weight. Her philosophy is People look at someone who loses 100 pounds like they've done this great thing. I look at someone who loses 100 pounds and think they never should've gotten that heavy to begin with.

I don't understand exactly why this is happening. I haven't had a problem with anybody else... honestly, everyone's too wrapped up with doing what they are there to do to really care about what I'm doing, and that's the way I like it.

I may be an adult, but this woman really makes me feel like I'm 8 years old again.

So, what would your reaction be if you saw an extremely obese person working out at your gym? If you were me, what would you do?
