How do you feel about video games or electronics for kids under the age of 6?

My daughter will be 5 in March and she doesn't really hold an interest in video games or computer games or stuff like that so it never occurred to me to buy it for her...do your kids play that kind of stuff? What about like hand held video games like Nintendo DS? Would you buy things like this for your young kids? iTouch?

Just curious.
beacuse i don't want them lol maybe i didn't make that clear....
Her dad wants to get her a DS and and iTouch, thats why I ask what everyone's thoughts are! Thanks for the responses!
 
well my son is only 2 so he does not have any gaming systems yet, but yes we do plan to allow age appropriate gaming once he gets older, i expect by 6 he will either have a system or play some online games at Nick or PBS... my belief is in moderation there in no harm in playing games... just remember that as the parent YOU set limits
 
My 6 year old had a DS but she decided to take it to school one day and it got "lost" I didn't bother to go ask for it, she knew better. Her loss not mine :)

She has a fisher price digital camera and we're highly thinking about getting her a real one for x-mas a long with a mini laptop so she can upload her pictures. The fisher price pictures don't come out that nice and the mini laptop because when she uploads the pictures to my pc, lets just I have no idea what she does to my pc but it never is the same again.
 
Being honest, if it were me, I would never have bought my kids a Nintendo, but my husband really wanted them to have one... That's all they wanted to do! I had to really reign it in, which, of course, makes me the bad guy... I resent that sucker, I'll tell you what!

They've gotten better, though, and don't ask to play too often, anymore... I'd much rather them play outside and get some exercise!
 
my 5 year old son is playing wii right now. my 3 year old daughter only plays once in a while, she would prefer to draw, color, write, etc.
I wouldn't buy a DS just because I know he would lose it.
