Politics aside this bailout is going to cost every man, woman, and child in the US 2,000 dollars. I could care less about what candiate is going to solve the problem because neither of them are going to be in the White House for several months. What is your feedback?

Well...if it keeps the economy from totally collapsing, I think it might be worth it. I mean, if the economy collapses, I think it might cost us more.

It's not worth it. It's pure theft! Collapsing banks are not going to destroy the economy! This bailout will destroy the economy and the dollar!

I think there are some of us out there who is on the brink of losing income and own homes. Having to pay $2000 would hurt the economy and those with weak incomes would be pushed over the edge.

But then, if this happens, basically all those homes that recently went into foreclosure and those about to would have their mortgages paid off in full, right? Or am I missing something? Then why not have those struggling homeowners keep their foreclosed homes and continue living in them and continue to pay the taxes on them. If and when their income situation improves, they should contribute to paying off the 700 Billion according to what they still have left on their mortgage. Of course, it would be necessary to weed out those who lost their homes to reckless spending decisions - sex, gambling and dope.

I think that $700 Billion would be better spent in creating jobs that those homeowners would take and they could continue on paying the mortgage as if nothing has happened. If everyone had to pay back $2000, what's to say they can't wait ten years to get it back with everybody paying $200 a year, or $16.67 a month, but would be slightly higher because of those who are too young to work and those too old or disabled to work, but would have thier part in paying this back, but can't. That $16.67 is already hidden many times over with the flucuating price of gas.

I don't understand how it's going to benefit us citizens. Without reinstating, and creating new jobs, the economy is screwed either way. Us citizens shouldn't have to pay for their careless mistakes. Just a bunch of corrupt bloodsuckers helping out their corrupt bloodsucking friends with the money of the same people they've been feeding off of all along.

It's blackmail. Have you listened to Paulson lately? "Gimme the money, or the economy will crash." Seriously? To me, that sounds like blackmail, and as far as Im concerned, I dont owe anybody $2000. I had nothing to do with the banking problem. I never approved anyone spending 2 grand in my name. I don't know who's debt it is, but its not mine.

Oh, btw, Paulson, Bush, every politician who votes to give this money away, and every single bank CEO that get ts their hands on some of this money is guilty of treason and should be executed immediately for theft. They have no right to give public funds away to private companies. Are you sick of it yet, America? Have you had enough?

The amount of money they are talking about, how about the Feds pay off all the mortgages that those lenders doled out?

That way the homebuyers are off the hook and can spend money elswhere, the mortgage companies will still be in business, and there will be some left to help the mortgage companies get a new start.

I object totally to this BS, it's just not fair they got themselves into this terrible problem and we who work hard and are taxed to the hilt for EVERYTHING have to bail them out. PLUS, there's no guarantee this will be the end of what they need to fix the economy!
We could possibly be looking at forking out more money in a few months
Did you notice the "golden parachute" some exec's were given..11 million dollars, 30 million, 16 million. These were from the same companies that went under!
How about instead of giving them all this dough, they get like 1 million each (I'm being kind, they really don't even deserve that much) that would pour about an extra 70-90 MILLION back into the system.

The final tally will be a heck of a lot more than $2000. When did a program of this type ever end up costing what was claimed initially? The $700 billion is not nearly enough to save the financial system. Look into the total amount of problematic derivatives floating around out there. $7 trillion would barely get a start at cleaning up that problem. Will they return to the well after the election looking for more money?

The bailout is a swindle designed to transfer wealth from working and middle class people to the elite. It will not solve the financial crisis. In fact, it might worsen the financial crisis by further deflating the dollar.

$700 billion is an amount that Paulson can probably get passed out to his cronies before losing his job in January and returns to where he came from - the corrupt industry that caused the problem.

Look at the total cost of all of the bailouts. If the total tally were truly only $2000, then would not see 3/4 of the citizens angry about it.
