Although they had legally binding contracts to pay out bonuses, I think it would have been better to postpone those bonuses until the money could come from the profits of the company rather than with the bailout money.

I think they should have kept the money completely separate not because they HAD to, but just for the principal of it.

It's similar to what happened when the CEOs of the major car companies flew in their private jets to ask for bailouts. Although it was probably cheaper for them to fly (since time is money), it showed bad judgement from an IMAGE standpoint.

What are your thoughts and feelings about this?

This is a NON- NEWS STORY! But the media and "class warfare" politicians are using it to distract the "lemming' from the REAL issues. Like how the economy got this screwed up in the FIRST place.

I am not happy with my tax money paying bonuses to execs of a failing company, just because they were employees.

Bonuses should be calculated on a percentage of profits.

I'd like to put them in a little room, with people who have lost their livelyhoods and buisnesses as a DIRECT result of AIG's greed, and see what parts of their body a pathologist could identify after we've had our 'way' with them

I think the Obama administration should stop lying to the American people. These legal contracts were signed LONG before the bailout. So the time for action should have been BEFORE the bailout. Now all we get is faked indignation from the poorly run administration. It is getting horribly worse for the American taxpayer and Obama is showing his complete ignorance in how Corporate America operates.

I was under the impression that AIG is 80% owen by our government. I would have thought we would have the last say in compensation. Who signed off and by what authority? I feel sure that AIG is not exempt from the Freedom of Information Act. By the way, who provided information to the public? What role did our Secretary of the Treasury play in this debacle? By the way, who says these are legally binding contracts? Who signed off on them? How about some names and dates?
