How do you download wii games?

i heard you can download free wii games and i was wondering if anyone knew how. Do u need to buy a special dvd or something?? i dunno but if u know how could you tell me step by step because i've been looking round the internet for ages and i can't seem to find anyone that makes sense!! i'm not very good with this kinda stuff and i just wanted some really simple steps to follow. and what does getting your wii modified with a mod-chip mean and how do you do it if i have to get it done to make this work?
