How do you download torrents and sync on Windows Media Player on a an iPod?

Well, I used to have an MP3 and I downloaded torrents off of websites onto Bitlord and synced them off of Windows Media Player. I know have an iPod and I don't wanna use iTunes so I was wondering if I could download music onto my iPod the same way I did it with my MP3. When I connected the iPod and went on Windows Media Player the driver didn't show up so I don't know if I can download music the same way.
I just said I wont use iTunes!
Who pays a dollar for one song :/
