How do you dive from the plane in wii sports resort?

I just bought a wii and I was going to use the wii sports resort game. It's the first time I use it and I'm supposed to dive off the plane but I have no idea how. My remote cursor does not always show up on the television when I am on the wii menu so I do not know if that is the reason I cannot jump or if I have to push certain buttons in order to jump.
