How do you delete text messages off of the Alltel Delve without opening the message?

I can't delete text messages that i get without opening them. its VERY frustrating because sometimes they are one word or from people i don't know so i hate to waste my text messages. There has to be away that you can delete them without opening them? help.
P.S. i have a Alltel Delve, Samsung
