How do you create a Stamp/Personal Seal for my photography?

I notice a lot of photographers when they publish their work online they put the some type of personalized stamp or seal to all their photos to protect them from people stealing them and claiming its them ... How do I do this and in what type of software could I do this, I do have adobe photoshop and this other call Jasc Software Paint Shop Pro, however I do classic film photography so I dont posses great artistic digital abilities !

I'll apreciate an answer.
