How do you cook tofu?

Everytime i've tried to cook it, i've failed miserably. It's either disgustingly mushy or falls totally apart. I've tried it in stir fry and cooking it by itself. I've also tried using the firmest type and still no luck. any tips?
 
Use firm tofu. You need to drain it, I just use paper towels to soak up the moisture. Slice it into cubes or strips and just fry with oil in a pan for a few mins. Don't overcook, they should just be golden on each side.
Alternatively, dip pieces in egg or egg replacer, sprinkle with cornflour and fry until golden.
