How do you convert videos from Windows Media Player to iTunes?!!?!?

I just downloaded a movie torrent, but when i try to play it, it goes strait to Windows media player, then i tried to drag the file to itunes but that didn't work. So i was wandering if i would be able to convert the movie to itunes, so i could sync the movie to my ipod. And also I am running on Vista. I would appreciate if anybody could help me step by step.
