an explanation for someone with no knowledge of a computers or technical names would be appreciated. :)

I download some torrents off websites directly from UTorrent. Once those files had completed they were saved into my videos folder. Everytime I try and open them with windows media player it says windows media player cannot play the file. I tried re-opening it into uTorrent and it keeps saying the torrent you are trying to add is already in the list of torrents do you want to add trackers from it. If i press yes or no nothing happens. Under the files i downloaded it says frostwire torrent. Does any of this make sense, if not can anway tell me a way to redownload the torrents so I can open them in windows media player? thanks in advance :)

oh gosh.. we have the same problem too.. what ah.. i dont know man.. i have downloaded one movie.. the night at the museum.. and it played on my media player., but the next movies.. "cannot" .. i dont know whats the problem.. i had try once so i think i can do the same.. but no.. a failure! hahaha.. huhuhu.., (--,)

look at the file extension, and google what media player will play it, there are thousands of freeware programes that will do this, i use VLC media player as it plays just about everything, and if its a dvd rip (.iso) u need to burn this to disk b4 using.

It is rare that a torrent video will be in a format that is compatible with WMP. Most are encoded in DivX or XviD as these can be burned to disc without conversion and played in DivX compatible DVD players.

You can integrate a codec pack into WMP, but the better choice is to use the free VLC referenced in the other answer. Converting to a WMP compatible file would take quite a bit of time and really is not worth it.
