How do you clean a bicycle helmet?

The straps on my helmet are kind sweaty and stinky. Is there an easy way to get them clean the straps don't come off.
 
Just use some dish washing soap and warm water, go over the whole thing with a short bristle brush then take a clean wash cloth squeezed with warm clear water and wipe it all off.

For any of my cycling gear that used to get "perma-funk" including helmet straps and gloves, try using Oxy. I find it does a terrific job. I soak the stuff that doesn't go into the washing machine. I add it to the wash load for the stuff that does get machine washed. Oh, yeah. I use a skull cap to control sweat and Oxy is the only thing that works for cleaning it.
