How do you capture HD 1080i footage from a Sony HVR 1000U to Final Cut Pro 7.0?

I'm using a Sony HVR 1000U and Final Cut Pro 1080i and a firewire for capturing. What settings do I need to capture 1080i footage? I've gone through web and video tutorials and nothing I've tried is working. The various HD options I've tried don't capture at all, and the normal NTSC options distort or crop the footage.

Any advice would be MOST appreciated!
