I left my religion 4 years ago, but I still feel like the beliefs I was brought up with are influencing me. I feel like I'm always looking forward to the new ideas and opinions that I have now. It's just that the old beliefs come up now and then and I feel really conflicted
I want to change, I just think it's taking too long. I thought I would be completely comfortable letting my old beliefs go. Is there any way to speed up the process?
I've already come to terms with what I do and don't believe. I have no interest in going back to my past religion or any other religion.

Atheist isn't a belief, and it's not that I have trouble accepting I'm an atheist. My past religion is so ritualistic that it comes up in my mind on reflex. I've been trained to behave religiously. What I want to do is to let go of the rituals. They don't have any place in my life anymore.
