how do you become a publicist?

i live in Sydney, Australia & my dream job would be to work as a publicist for a music company or a company such as disney

what studies do i need to complete before applying for a job like this ?? i have a diploma in event managament and i did work experience with nickelodeon australia on their kids choice awards show

but what should i study to become a publicist?
 
You might think about public relation. Then you need something concerning the media like TV, Newspaper etc. Or you need MBA.
