I am installing a new sony stereo to a 95 dodge neon. I can figure out what to do with all of the stereo wires and how to splice them with the harness but i don't understand the ground wire connection. it is the black wire coming out of the stereo. I am using this site http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs/DCP/PDF/327013.pdf

the part about connecting the ground wire is confusing. The only tools i have is a soldering iron and electrical tape.I dont have a crimper. How should i do this? How do I connect the ground wire or what do i connect it to. Please explain as best as possible...thanks

the black groundwire is the most important. to insure that you have a good ground connection you can use a small wire nut to attach a longer wire and run that to the battery's negative post. On that same wire nut attach another wire also and screw that to a metal part of the car. That way you have the stereo attached to 2 good grounding points.

you should get the proper connection either the male tab spade or the ring terminal. The spade is especially important with the Infinity systems.

If no infinity you can solder to the black wire in the factory harness. Or you can drill a hole and tap a screw to it to connect the black wire to a good ground (frame or body).

You would make life allot easier by just buying the snap wire harness....
