How do you align images in html?

I want to vertically align images (top, mid., bottom) on the screen with text to the right of it (everywhere else on screen). I type, <img src="image.jpg" align ="top"> I do the same for other 2 images except I type middle and bottom. It never works, and book says to do that. What should I type? Thnx.
