how do u turn a car with a sunroof into a the same car that doesnt have a sunroof?

now that i know that sunroofs are a bad idea i wish i had gotten a car without a sunroof. im looking for a sportier handling. if i just remove the sunroof and weld some aluminum sheet to fill the hole, i know ill be saving some weight but the car wont be as strong as one the same but without a sunroof because the one without has a crossmember in the center of the car. how about if i weld a pipe across the center of the car, will that make the car more rigid?
im trying to do this to my 99 nissan altima
i dont wana sell it and buy a new one cause its white color and its really beautiful
