how do u time a 99' dodge intepd 2.7 motor?

my husband has changed a water pump in a 99' intrepid and cant figure out how to time it. but we don't have money to go get it fixed is there any way he can get it done by himself? he is pretty good at working on cars himself. and he knows a good bit about them. but he has never timed a 99' intrepid before. any hints or tips?
