How do u jailbreak An iPhone?

I have an iPhone that does not call or text anymore so I basically just use it as an itouch now. I was wondering how to jailbreak it. It is the 3 gen tell me everythin to know bout jailbreaking. Also if there is a way to jailbreak it without using your home computer and just use the iPhone please tell me how to do that
