How do Two People, both join an XBox Live match on the same XBox, when playing the...

...game COD: World At War? We've can only get into private matches against each other which isn't fun at all. For some reason we can't both get on in to the Multiplayer games with other people, who are at home on their Xboxs.

To anyone that knows how;
The help would be Greatly Appreciated.
Also, please be Specific with your instructions on how to do so. =)

I'm not sure if it is possible.
Halo 3 is unique, because it allows you to bring a 'guest' with you (someone who doesn't own an Xbox Live Gold subscription).
Some games let you have 2 people on one Xbox as long as each person has their own Xbox Live account, and are signed in.
Other games simply don't let more than 1 person play on a single Xbox. I think that was the case with CoD4: MW, so you might be out of luck with CoD: WaW.
