I've been reading up on the differences between the GSM and CDMA networks recently and I noticed how CDMA does not use SIM cards and for the most part doesn't use R-UIM cards.
However, strangely enough, I opened up the two Sprint phones my family uses and found that they each have a SIM card and a IMEI number (both marked as being SIM and IMEI).
Both of them are cheap motorola flip phones (the i760 model) that we get from a friend (Sprint employee) for like $10-$15 each a month. We have been using one of the two phone numbers for several years and the SIM card has been moved between phones since the Nextel days. The other phone we got in just the last couple of months, complete with its own SIM card.
What I don't understand is how is this possible? We are for sure Sprint customers and using the Sprint network.
So, Sprint/Nextel phones that use push to talk IDEN come with SIM cards?
