How do the 3D glasses work? how do the 3d artworks work?

So yea... I was looking at the crayola 3d art kit and I began to wonder... how does it work? you draw on the ground and you use 3d glasses to look at them and they pop up. I went to an art show a few weeks ago and I looked at a photo of T-rex and I got scared when that dinosaur came at me with it's big teeth! AHH! so yea... how does it work?
