I have a honda accord that just stop shifting into gear. It redlines and the car barely moves. Sometimes it does grab but then looses it. The solenoids are okay. I never had a problem with the tranny and then last week i did a tranny flush and (i did notice some metal shavings) I used tranny oil for hondas but it was not HONDA OIL as recommended. I think it could be the filter or pump but figure its easier to do a swap with a rebuilt one. So will i need any special tools for the swap?
I have done other transmissions but not on a front wheel drive vehicle. When removing the tranny , is there anything that could fall out or is everything intact once you remove the bolts holding on the tranny to the engine? Where can i get information on steps to repair or remove the transmission? when removing the tranny is the engine supported by engine mounts or is a jack also needed?
So if in deed its the torque converter wouldnt it be easier to just swap the whole transmission witha rebuilt and rebuild the other one for sale?
