how do storms/ tornadoes form?

when the cold and warm air try to come together it's almost like they clash against each other and start to spin creating a wall cloud....if you see a wall cloud there will most likely be a tornado.
 
So im here at home and we have already been through many severe storms today, one tornado watch still in effect until nine tonight, and three fifteen minutes tornado warnings.
And this is where i start wondering "how do these storms get so severe, and how do tornadoes form?"
I would like to know bit by bit, how a storms gets all of its power and where it starts, and how a tornado forms.
