how do most people learn how to model?

How do model learn how to model? I'm 21 male who's interested in getting in but how did most people learn how to model?
OH BTW!!!!! I'm not talking about runaway or catwalk model. I'm talking about model for pictures and ads
 
People who are models usually start our way younger than 21, even though 21 is not old at all. "Monkey see monkey do" is the best way to learn this kind of thing. Watch modeling shows, look up famous modeling on youtube... just study other models and try and apply it to yourself.
