There are a few things about the process that I don't understand. For example when reaching a settlement does the plaintiff or defendant make the first offer as to what to accept money wise. Second if it is the plaintiff how do they come up with the figure of what to ask for. Like in employment law, If the they are suing for disability discrimination by termination of employment. If one of the things being sued for is lost wages, do they just calculate at 5 years, 10 years or just make up numbers. Is there an actual lawyers come up with the numbers of how much to sue for. If you know of any websites or any place that has information about it it would be greatly appreciated.
