I was asked to write a letter for a very close family member who is a defendant in a criminal court case. He is looking at doing some serious time, so I want to write the best letter I can. I know it won't get him acquitted, but I want the judge to see the incident was something that was out of character for him. Anyone know how to format this letter? Do I address it to the judge directly or to whom it may concern? What should and shouldn't include? Any suggestions to get me started in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks!
