Over the past 3 years I have gained a lot of weight. I went through a divorce & a major depression...which caused the weight gain. Over the years, I started coaching my son in football. He is now 11. This year he was 5lbs over weight for our team (he's not fat, he is "playing down" in a lower division for his age...and our league rules require "play downs" to be 10lbs lighter than our maximum weight limit.
I had my son working out daily...and sometimes twice a day. He would get up in the morning before school and run a mile or two...and again on days that he didn't have football practice. I also had him doing 100 push ups & sit ups daily in sets of 10.
My son wants me to work out/run with him. He likes that bonding time...however, I'm just not physically able to work out at the level he is at right now. I can walk a mile or two, but not run...especially at the rate the he has to run. I also am not at a place where I can do a decent set of 10 push ups. The only thing I can probably physcially do is swim and lift weights. However, my son hasn't learned to swim well yet, and he's 11 and I don't allow him to lift weights.
