I'm somewhat confused about bike gears; I taught myself how to ride, and the second two following it had gears. At first I figured out the gears, somewhat; Once I got 'em comfortable, never changed it. This one has Five notches on the left, and 10 on the right. I know the lower the easier, the higher the harder. But this new bike I bought, it's either WAAAAY to easy, or ti's excessively hard. I grew up over-weight and now I'm in shape, so I have very strong legs, but if I put it on 4 or 5 (Sorry for sounding un-educated but to be blunt on this subject; I am) it gets very tiring. I used to go for 20 mile bike rides everyday and enjoy'd it, and I really miss it, but I just can't figure the gears out.
so I'm wondering if someone can explain them in detail, not just 'Lower easier; higher harder' then maybe I could find out if it's broken or not.
Would appreciate any help ~ Thanks.
