How do I wire up a sub amplifier in the boot of my ford focus?

I'm buying a small-ish (500W) amp for a 12" sub & enclosure to go in the boot of my Ford Focus. I don't want the whole street to know I'm coming but would like a bit of thump.

I know I need to get a chunky power cable connected to a power supply giving at least 15 amps, preferably 30 (I think) and connect the negative to a bolt in the boot. Would it be dangerous/viable to connect the power to a cable powering the tail lights? I don't particlarly want to start cutting holes in the cabin to get through to the engine bay... Any advice would be seriously appreciated!

With Smaller amps back in the day they did that all the time.

I wouldn't now though.

You might end up with a sub that only works when the lights are on if you do it wrong xD. Plus that's really not enough of a power wire for an amp like that.

Just buy a kit and run it back from the battery.
