How do i use Quick Cure fish treatment for Ick?

My fish are (according to most of the people i have contacted and asked about) suffering from an early stage of Ick. I would like to treat it using a method that someone from yahoo answers gave me. It says to add the appropriate amount of aquarium salt and heat the temperature for the aquarium. I don't exactly understand the remove carbon filter cartridge from your filter part, then how will my water get cleaned? What temperature should i let my water rise too? And how much sea salt should i add to the aqaurium.
