how do i use % on a div asp.net?

I am using visual studio 2008 and what i want to do is create div using percentage so it adapt to the sizes of the browser or resolution but when i am using % let say i shrink the browser to almost nothing the div shrinks to much how can i tell the div to shrink but to a point and then stop shrinking.

i hope my question is clear.
