How do i use my windows media centre?

over 6 months ago i bought a dell inspiron 1525, it came with windows media centre - - but when i go online and want to view something when it comes up with run, save, cancel - i click run and it takes me to my windows media centre and i look for it and its not even there!!! i also tried save it to my computer. . .its probably a real stupid question but anyways.
