how do I use my ps3 controller on my pc (windows 7) for the new splinter cell game?

I'm going to get splinter cell chaos theory on tuesday for the pc and I would love to know how to use my ps3 controller. any help would be much appreciated!

would I need to download software? or do I just plug it in?
