How do I update my chipset drivers on my Dell Inspiron for iPhone 4 compatibility?

In March of this year I purchased a Dell Inspiron with an intel i5 processor running on Windows 7. Well, about 1 month ago I bought and iPhone 4 and noticed that I was having all kinds of issues syncing my phone to my computer and whatnot so I got on the phone with Apple for a while and they told me that I need to update my chipset drivers on/for my USB ports. Yes Apple, this I understand but HOW ON GODS GREEN EARTH DO I DO THAT?! Anyone have any ideas? I have tried the Intel website but I am just not tech savvy enough to get a grasp of that lingo. Now I am, however, tech savvy enough to do it myself, I just need some help. I'm using the Intel 5 Series/3400 Series chipset family USB enhanced host controller. And I have also tired to make windows search for the updated driver utilities but it can't find any. So... any suggestions?
