How Do I Unlock My Panasonic Recorder?

My Panasonic DMR-EH60DEB HDD/DVD recorder has locked itself with a DVD in the drive which will not eject.
I have tried all the reset procedures as described in the manual; also tried disconnecting from the mains and reconnecting. Every time I switch the machine back on the 'Self-Check' routine begins but will not end until the standby button is pressed for ten seconds.
The problem began when that particular disc was placed in the drive. Before that everything worked perfectly.

Any ideas, folks?

Well.... I'm not an expert on this machine but.... I had a similar problem with a USA Panasonic model, in which the disc would not eject. The Self Check routine of "OOOOOOOO" took a very long time to complete, only then was I able to hit the correct buttons to eject the disc. This was after unplugging the machine several times. I didn't realize the Self Check takes forever. Let the Self Check keep going, don't press any buttons until the machine shuts off. According to the manual, the machine should be switched off, then press and hold Stop and Channel Up and Channel Down until the disc ejects.
If none of this helps, your options are limited to calling or emailing Panasonic customer service, or trying to remove the disc yourself. Take the cover off, locate the DVD drive, ususally there are two pieces to the housing, remove the screws to the top cover and remove it, you'll have access to the DVD. The problem may not have anything to do with the disc itself, most likely the drive became defective or died. This is what I had to do to get the disc out when my machine's drive malfunctioned permanently.
