How do I unlock a Blackberry I found?

My mom found a Blackberry inside a bathroom at a gas station in another state. The phone is locked with the owners personal code. We were trying to find who the owner is so we could return it but they have not called the phone and I assume by now they already got the service disconnected. I called the phone company I assumed the service was with and asked them what I could do and they were no help at all. They said well, I cant give you any information, I asked them to look up the owner by serial number and they said even if they found someone they couldn't tell me anything about them. Anyhow, I tried looking it up online and there is nothing I can find. The only info I could find is unlocking a phone to use with another service provider. So, I need to know how do I unlock the phone so I can access the numbers in the phone to try and contact someone who knows the owner so I can return it. It says I am only allowed 10 tries to unlock it and I already have 8. Any information on how I go about doing this would be appreciated. And also just to add (before anyone suggests it) we have already called the gas station where it was found and they said no one left any information. We thought about leaving it the the attendant, but who can you trust these days? We are trying to do the right thing but it is really difficult when you are given this situation.
