How do I turn up the ringer volume on my Samsung Impression?

I think theres a volume key on the side of the phone if it dont work go to the sound option go to the ringer thing and raise it up
 
I set a ringer I downloaded as my call ringer on my phone. In the set up of the ringer with all the options it has ringer volume. I have it at 6 which is one before the highest level and it sounds good loud and clear. My problem is that when someone calls me its so low that I can barely hear it! Idk what to do, any sugestions?
 
There are a few things tht you can do with your device, but you need to know that the phone does to an ascending ring, it is default, and there is no way to change it. so it will start off really quiet.
