how do I turn off my droid eris htc? i tried once and it worked but now i don't know...

...how to do it? i got HTC droid eris today and i am exploring it like crazily! i found the airplane mode/ turn off/ etc screen at some point and i tried turning the phone off and it worked. however, my slow brain doens't remember how i did it...

anyone??

how do you turn off the phone not by just toching the left red button?
