How do i tell the sex of a banded gourami?

its just showing what a banded gourami looks like
its a Colisa fasciata
 
Some gourami are identical in the sexes, and with others the female will be duller. In blues and goldens I know the female has a rounded end to her dorsal fin were the males ends in a point.

With a banded gourami search, I get the result of either a Dwarf Gourami, or a Giant Gourami.

Most male gouramis have longer and pointed dorsal fin. The males are also usually more colorful. The female gouramis usually lack the color the males have, and their dorsal fins are rounded.

This is just a general sex difference in gouramis though, it may not apply to yours. But if one of them has a very pointed dorsal fin, chances are, its a male.

"Male: Orange bodycolor with iridescent blue stripes, fewer than Colisa labiosa. Caudal fin with blue spots at the base, and bright red spots at the end. Anal fin iridescent blue with red tips at the end of the spines. Female less colourfull, with a round end at the anal fin. The juvenile male in the picture has the coloration that is found in adult females. Richter reports that the colors vary depending on the origin of the fish."

lmao at one of the common names. "Giant Dwarf Gourami" I love it. I do like what that fish looks like though.
