How do I talk to her for the first time?

I am a sophomore in high school with a crush on this freshmen girl. I am a shy person until I get to know someone. I have had girlfriends in the past and have met and gotten to know other girls. She is very pretty and I think a lot of girls are pretty, but there is something about her. Right now I am at the point to where I think about her constantly. I day dream about her during my classes and have gotten in trouble a couple times for not paying attention while day dreaming. Everytime I see her I can't help but smile which my friends have noticed and tease me about. I have no classes with and the only time during school that I see her is in the hallway and at lunch. When I walk passed her in the hallway I notice her staring at me. I don't know whether To take that as a sign or what. I see her at lunch buying her food and this is usually when I try to work up the confidence to talk to her but I always talk myself out of it. I sometimes see her after school but the only problem is she is always with someone else or in a group of girls most of whom I don't know. I also see her at basketball games on Fridays but again she is a group of girls. The problem with this is that i would feel really uncomfortable talking to her in front of her friends because I feel like they might tease me and reject me in front of her which I do not want. I have no idea how to approach her or even what to talk about when I do and it's driving me crazy. Can I please have some advice on this.
