how do i talk to guys i never talked to before?

im a shy girl and there's this guy i sit next to in One of my classes, and i think that he might like me but im not shure. i like him. we only talk for like 10 seconds, but he always talks to the girl sitting infrount of him. idk if he likes me of is only being nice, but i really like him. how do i start a conversation with him with out being obvious that i like him?
