I am an amateur photog and want to learn more about how to photograph and change aperature and f stop and all that good stuff but i know nothing about it and don't have time for school. Anyone know any good sites? One shot in praticular i want to get is a maternity shot close up of belly and light is to one side and sort of dark but when i try this it is blurry without my flash. Also, i have a Nikon D40 . Where can i learn more about when to use what aperture and shutter speed, also when i am either in P S A or M modes, even with the sb600 flash, my pictures are dark or blurry or just dont look right,,,,HELP!

Blur is caused by two things only. Camera and/or subject movement. There is but one remedy. Use higher shutter speeds. If you have to increase the amount of light, do it. If you cannot increase the amount of light, you will have to increase the ISO

If your images are coming out dark using the SD600, either you are not shooting in the manual mode at 1/200th second or slower or you aperture is too small.

For shooting people, flash is about the last thing you want to use .. it casts shadows and provides harsh lighting.
