How do I stop the blue message light from flashing on my Wii?

The Wii is in my bedroom and a lot of times, in the middle of the night, I get a message and the blue light starts to flash. It's really annoying because it wakes me up. How do I turn off this feature so that when I get a message, nothing happens. No blue light, no nothing. I checked settigns but didn't see anything. PLEASE HELP!
 
You can actually opt to turn it off in the Wii Settings.

On the second page of the Wii Settings, select "Wiiconnect24", then select "Slot Illumination".

You can now set the light to "Dim" or "Off".
