Hello, I have recently obtained a male Shih Tzu. I am having troubles however.
I am trying to crate train the puppy to housebreak him, one problem however is that he whining constantly while in the process. I decided before house breaking him ot stop the whining then house break. Is this ok?
When I am crate training this is my process:
I walk in with the puppy, give him a treat and toys in his crate and shut the door. Some praise but not a lot. Then I walk away and then sit and watch T.V. or something. After about 1-2 minutes, he starts whining. He does not stop. I have waited for over 30 minutes to have him just quiet down. Eventually I give up and walk in. When I walk him he is pawing the door wanting to get out. When he is out he jumps on my leg and such, like I saved him. Then I try it again, I have tried starting very small but he can't get past 1-2 minutes. So,
How do I stop my puppy from whining in his crate?
How do I turn that into house breaking?
Thank you!
